Opis

The film shows the momentous and tragic history of the Poznań uprising in 1956. Memories of the director, who at the time was a nine-year-old boy, form only a canvas for the screenplay. The main characters of the black and white film are two boys between ten and twelve. From their perspective, the viewer follows the development of events. From the depths of dark alleys, through the railings of fences and cluttered backyards, we follow the street riots through the eyes of the children. The film, without the action in the literal sense of the word, was produced using reportage technique, which perfectly captures the spontaneity of the Poznań uprising. The director depicts, among other things, the adventures of a young worker Zenek, who becomes the unwitting leader of the protest, and of five professors who by chance find themselves in the centre of events.
